Mixed Martial Art Karate Basics

Karate

This is not traditional karate training. This is the best of karate's' kicks, blocks, and strikes placed into an MMA format. When properly trained, and applied in an MMA blend Karate's powerful techniques are still effective. Only kids are required to demonstrate Kata.

Kata
Heain Shodan, Heain Neidan, Heain Sondan, Heain Yodan,Heain Godan
The essence of karate is contained within the kata or forms. All techniques, both offensive and defensive, are contained within kata. Understanding the applications of the techniques or movements, including the hidden applications or meanings, is simultaneously the foundation and the way to mastery. This is the Bunki or the meaning behind the movement. Karate is an art of self-defense which follows the principle of “no first attack”. Karate prefers to counter the attack and then respond. The forms also teach how to deal with multiple attackers from multiple directions. The following forms are taught to the kids. Only the Bunki is taught to the adults prior to black belt
Sparring Combos
The following is a guide for practicing sparring. The combinations are limited only by the students imagination. When training this area, it is important to isolate the art. For now, do not blend Thai or J.K.D. stay within the art. Utilize the techniques listed below to create offensive and defensive combinations. All combinations can be performed, form all stances. Stance can change within the combinations, combinations can be 2 counts up to 7 counts. Listed are the variables for 3 counts. In order to close range, offensive combinations should start with footwork, defensive combinations should start with a block-cover (cover refers to the block executed with an open hand). Incorporate footwork into the defensive combinations. Blend all techniques to all other techniques
