Clinic Schedule 2008
2nd Friday of the month • 6:00 to 7:15 • $25.00 per clinic

Dear Members,

In 2008, the instructors will be sharing some of their expertise and knowledge with the students during ‘Special Friday Night’ training sessions. This academy is fortunate to have instructors that are not only qualified to teach our curriculum but they also hold black belts from other martial arts schools in this area. Each clinic will encompass a special area of the martial arts not included in our weekly schedule.  Don’t miss this opportunity to expand your knowledge and have some fun.

February 08 • Mr. Nix

“Boards Don’t Hit Back - The Art of Breaking”

The Art of breaking builds confidence and instills a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, it is just plain fun to smash a board with your hand, foot, elbow, or knee.  Never your head. Your head is for thinking, your fists are for striking. This clinic is for everyone ages 4 and above.  One month training  is required.  Yes, anyone can do this. See you there.

March 08 • Sifu Kormick

“The Kung Fu Warrior”

Mr. Kormick has an extremely diverse background in the martial arts.  In addition to being the second highest ranking member of this academy, he holds a black belt in Chinese Kung Fu. During this clinic, you will be exposed to the Chinese martial arts animal movements of the tiger, dragon, and others.  This clinic is appropriate for ages 7 and above.  Orange belt required.

April 08  • Mr. McDonnell

“Weapons Defense”

Mr. McDonnell has been studying the martial arts for over 25 years.  In addition to his instructor certification, he is certified in PPTC, Spontaneous Edge Weapon Defense, used by law enforcement throughout the country.  Statistics show that almost all street confrontations involve a weapon.  This clinic is appropriate for members ages 8 and above.  Yellow belt required.

May 08  • Mr. Feldman

“Weapon Warrior - The Kama”

Mr. Feldman began his training in the Bushi-Ryu System of Martial Arts, a traditional blend of traditional Karate, Kobudo (Weapons), Jujutsu and Kenjutsu.  During this clinic, Mr. Feldman will be covering one of the most dynamic in all the martial arts, the mighty Kama.  This clinic will be presented in a manner which is safe and appropriate for ages 7 and above.  Yellow belt required.

June 08  • Master Poliacek

“The Mighty Samurai - The Way of the Sword”

Master Poliacek was instrumental in Mr. Nix’s development as a martial artist.  He holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Karate, Kobudo and Kenjutsu.  Since his retirement from teaching in the Chartiers Valley school district and running a full time martial arts school, he now teaches Kenjutsu. From time to time he shares his knowledge with the advanced members of this academy.  Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from one of the only people in this area to hold a Masters rank in the art of the Samurai Warrior.  Ages 9 and above.  No rank required.

July 08 - no clinic - enjoy the summer

This special clinic is for our little people ages 4-7.  The clinic is a compilation of the others but appropriate for our younger members.

October 08  • Mr. Nix

“Enter the  Dragon - Wing Chung/Jun Fan Gung Fu”

Mr. Nix is certified to instruct the art and science of Jun Fan Gung Fu by Sifu Daniel Inosanto. Sifu Inosanto is the person appointed by Bruce Lee to carry on his teaching after his death.  This provides our members a unique and special privilege to be instructed by a direct Martial Arts descendant of The Dragon Bruce Lee.  Ages 6 and above.  Yellow belt  required.
